Estin City Stock Exchange
One of the larger features of the game is the Estin City Stock Exchange. In the initial planning and vision of the game 20 years ago, the Stock Exchange was to be a flagship mechanic of the game. Prices would rise and fall, Players would lose or make money, and a new day would ensure that cycle continued.
Why a Stock Exchange?
In order for the Stock Exchange to make sense in this game, it needed to have a large impact and purpose. Something beyond just being a place where Players make or lose money. That's why in Fusion Effect One, the Stock Exchange affects things like the value of mined ores, Players' overall game rank, the price of items associated with each company, and more! The Stock Exchange will loosely help influence prices and currency value as does the NYSE in the real-world.
So what's the magic behind the Stock Exchange?
Everyday, a news article is generated for each and every company listed on the Stock Exchange. These articles usually indicate a rise or fall in stock prices based on a small percentage. They rely on previous news to help form a realistic fluctuation in share value. We then implemented a weighted system to introduce a flow of positive or negative price changes for a random chunk of days in a row. This weight utilizes the Players' buying habits, which helps ensure an extremely believable and consistent flow of the Stock Exchange patterns.
Additional Stock Market Features
Players will be able to see information such as their entire portfolio, trends and changes in stock share prices, and the biggest leaders and losers. In addition, NPC news pundits will give their opinions and remarks on potential profitable decisions to make regarding buying or selling, according to recent news.
Will AI be a major factor in FEO?
No. Simply put, the game will evolve and flow naturally with very little AI influence. The mechanics in which we do utilize AI will be heavily monitored, continuously tweaked, and logged extensively to ensure the game doesn't lose continuity or immersiveness.
